Create Surveys in myCourses
On the Course Home page, click the Surveys on the course Navigation Bar. If this link is not available, you must edit the Navigation Bar to add it.
On the main Surveys page, click New Survey.
Enter a Name.
To make the survey Anonymous, select the checkbox beside Anonymous. This will prevent you from seeing who gave what responses on the survey.
- If your survey already has responses, you cannot make it anonymous.
- If the Anonymous checkbox is selected when you save the survey, you will receive a pop-up window asking if you want to confirm.
After you click the Yes button, you will not be able to change this option to make the survey non-anonymous.
Click the Layout/Questions tab to Create questions or Import questions.
Click the Restrictions tab to set the survey Status to Active and set Dates for when it will be open to students.
Click Save and Close.
You can return to this edit page at any time by going to the main Surveys page and clicking on the name of the survey you want to edit. You can also select the checkbox beside one or more surveys in the list and click Bulk Edit to quickly change the Name, Category, and Status for multiple surveys.

While this resource is accessible worldwide, McGill University is on land which has served and continues to serve as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. Teaching and Learning Services acknowledges and thanks the diverse Indigenous peoples whose footsteps mark this territory on which peoples of the world now gather. This land acknowledgment is shared as a starting point to provide context for further learning and action.
