Import questions into a myCourses quiz, survey, or self assessment

Using the import feature, you can add questions, text information, image information, and sections from the Question Library and other existing collections of questions from individual Quizzes, Self Assessments, and Surveys. If you created all your questions in the Question Library, you will have to import them to the quiz, survey, or self assessment of your choice.

In this article:

Import questions and Sections

If you created a Random Section within a quiz or survey, you can only import questions into it from the Question Library.

  1. On the main QuizzesSurveys, or Self Assessments page, click Question Library or the name of the quiz, survey or self assessment you want to import questions into.

  2. Click the Add/Edit Questions button to go to the Add/Edit Questions page.

  3. (Optional) If importing into a section folder, click on the name of the section or random section you want to import questions into.

  4. Click Import at the top of the page.

  5. From the Import Source drop-down list, select From an Existing Collection.

This drop-down list won't appear if you are importing into a Random Section.

  6. From the Source Collection drop-down list, select the source that contains the questions you want to import.

If you are importing into a Random Section, the only option will be Question Library.

  7. From the Source Section drop-down list, select Collection Root OR select a specific section that contains the questions you want to import.

  8. Select the checkbox beside each question you want to import OR select the checkbox beside Collection Root to import all the questions from that source.

  9. (Optional) Click the Preview icon beside a question to preview it.

  10. Click Save.

  • If the question you are trying to import is already stored in the destination or within any Section folders of the destination, a copy won't be imported.

  • If you import a question to a Quiz that was originally created within a Self Assessment or Survey, it will have no correct answer. Click the name of the question or the Edit icon to go to the Edit Question page to set the correct answer.
