Use textboxes in myCourses
Textbox options
Instructors can use textboxes to create and edit the following items in a course:
Select the icon at the top-right corner of a textbox to access the following options:

Paste | Pastes content you cut or copied. | ||
Undo | Cancels the most recent action. | ||
Redo | Redoes the most recent undone action. | ||
Paste as Plain Text | Pastes content and removes formatting. | ||
Paste from Word | Pastes content with Word formatting. | ||
Text Formatting | Format | Applies headings to selected text. | |
Font Family | Changes the font of selected text. | ||
Size | Changes the size of selected text. | ||
Apply Colour | Changes the colour of selected text. | ||
Bold | Bolds selected text. | ||
Italic | Italicizes selected text. | ||
Underline | Underlines selected text. | ||
Strikethrough | Crosses out selected text. | ||
Subscript | Makes selected text subscript. | ||
Superscript | Makes selected text superscript. | ||
Paragraph Formatting | Indent | Increases the indent of selected paragraph. | |
Outdent | Decreases the indent of selected paragraph. | ||
Unordered List | Inserts a bulleted list. | ||
Ordered List | Inserts a numbered list. | ||
Align Left | Aligns selected paragraph to the left. | ||
Align Right | Aligns selected paragraph to the right. | ||
Align Center | Centres selected paragraph. | ||
Align Full | Justifies the selected paragraph. | ||
Insertion | Insert Stuff | Inserts media from various sources. | |
Insert Image | Inserts an image. | ||
Insert Quicklink | Inserts a link. | ||
Insert Equation | Opens the Equation Editor in a new window. | ||
Insert Symbol | Opens a new window to select and insert a symbol. | ||
Insert Line | Inserts a horizontal line separating paragraphs. | ||
Insert Table | Inserts a table. | ||
Editor View | Check Spelling | Opens the Spell Checker in a new window. | |
HTML Source Editor | Opens the HTML Source Editor in a new window. | ||
Preview | Opens a new window with a preview of your content. | ||
Toggle Fullscreen | Enters or Exits a full screen view of the textbox. | ||
Resize | Resizes the textbox editing area. |
Create a link in a textbox
Add links in a textbox to provide students with links to course material and external websites. To add a link:
Select the Insert Quicklink icon.
In the pop-up window that appears, select the item to be linked. You can link to:
Assignments
Calendar Events
Chat Rooms
Checklists
Content
Course Files
Discussion Forums or Topics
External Learning Tools (e.g., Lecture Recording System)
Quizzes
Self Assessments
Surveys
URLs
Select an existing item.
(Optional) Select the Pencil beside an item and enter a Title for the Quicklink (e.g., Click here to access the assignment)OR
If you selected Link, enter the website address and Title in the fields that appear.Select an option for where the link will open: New window or Current window.
Select Insert. This will close the window and insert the link in the textbox.
Select Save below the textbox to make sure the inserted link is saved.
Embed videos and other media in a textbox
You can use the Insert Stuff icon to embed YouTube videos, images, and upload files from your computer to share with students.
Select the Insert Stuff icon.
In the pop-up window that appears, select the source of the media from the sidebar.
Search for and select the media you want to insert.
Select Insert.
Edit HTML using the source editor
Users who are able to edit HTML code can do so using the HTML Source Editor.
Select the HTML Source Editor icon.
In the pop-up window that appears, edit the HTML code.
Certain HTML codes may be automatically erased by myCourses due to security reasons.
Select Save or Update. This will close the window and display the text according to the HTML code.
Select Save below the textbox to make sure the inserted HTML is saved.
