Use the FAQ Tool in myCourses
The FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) tool allows you to organize questions students frequently ask about your course and gives students a standard place to check for answers. FAQs must be organized into one or more categories. For example, you can create a General FAQs category for all frequently asked questions and/or more specific categories, such as Assignment FAQs and Grading FAQs.
Access the FAQ Tool
If you have not already done so, you must add the FAQ tool to the course Navigation Bar. See instructions to Edit the Navigation Bar (Navbar) in myCourses.
Create an FAQ category
Before you can create FAQs, you must create at least one FAQ category to house the questions.
On the Course Home page. select FAQ on the Navigation Bar to access the Manage FAQ page.
Click the New Category icon.
Enter the Name of the new category, e.g., “Grading.”
(Optional) Enter a Description for the category.
Click Save to save your changes, or click Save & New to continue creating categories.
Create an FAQ
Select the arrow next to the FAQ category title and the select New Question OR on the main FAQ page, go to the drop-down list beside the FAQ category and select New Question.
Select a Category OR click New Category to add a new one.
Enter the Question (e.g., “After I hand in my assignment, how soon will my grade appear in myCourses?”).
Enter the Answer (e.g., “Within five to seven days”).
Click Save to save your changes or click Save & New to continue creating questions.
Preview the FAQ
Open FAQ on the course Navigation Bar.
Select More Actions and then select Preview to view the FAQ as a student would see it.
Use the Category drop-down list to view the questions in a specific category.
Edit a question or category
On the main FAQ page, click the name of the question or category. The Edit Question page will open.
Make your changes.
Click Save.
Edit multiple questions
On the main FAQ page, select the checkbox beside all questions you want to edit.
Click Edit at the top or bottom of the Category/Question list.
The Edit Multiple Questions page will open, allowing you to view and edit all questions on a single page.
Make your changes.
Click Save.
Reorder questions and categories
On the main FAQ page, click More Actions and select Reorder.
On the Reorder page, use the Sort Order drop-down lists to rearrange the questions or categories.
Click Save.
Delete a question or category
On the main FAQ page, click the arrow beside the category or question and select Delete to permanently delete the item.
Click Yes when the Confirmation pop-up appears.
Delete multiple questions
On the main FAQ page, select the checkbox beside each question you want to delete.
Click Yes when the Confirmation pop-up appears.
Click Delete at the top or bottom of the Category/Question list.
Click Yes when the Confirmation pop-up appears.
