Share a Polling @ McGill session with Vevox

Vevox is McGill’s polling tool. You can share a Polling @ McGill (i.e., Vevox) session with co-hosts, moderators, or students.

Share a session with co-hosts in the McGill community

You can add co-hosts, such as co-instructors and TAs, to modify the session or help you administer it in real time by inviting them via the Vevox dashboard. These co-hosts will have complete access to your session.

To add a co-host:

  1. select the session you want to share. Click Settings, then select the Sharing tab.

  2. Under Share access, type the McGill email address of the person(s) you would like to add as a co-host.

  • You can add as many co-hosts to a session as you like.

  • Co-hosts have complete access to the session and its content, including the ability to delete the session entirely.

  • You may remove a co-host at any time by returning to the Share access section and clicking the X button next to their name.

Share a session with Q&A moderators

In addition to co-hosts, you may share a session with moderators to assist you with reviewing and publishing student questions. Unlike co-hosts, moderators only have access to your session’s Q&A.

To invite a moderator:

  1. Log into the Vevox dashboard and navigate to the session you wish to share. Click Q&A from the menu on the left, and then the Moderation link at the top-center of the window.

  2. In the new window that opens, turn Moderation on, and turn Moderation Link on.

  3. In the moderation link section, you may:

    1. Set a password for the moderation link (optional).

    2. Copy the moderation link to share it via email, Teams, or other means.

    3. Display the moderation link as a QR code.

Share a session with students

You have multiple ways in which to share your even with students.

You can invite students to join your session in advance:

  1. Log into Vevox. Click on the Log in with Microsoft button enter your McGill credentials.

  2. Click on the (three-dot) button next to the session you would like to share, and select Invite participants.

  3. Click the Copy button to copy the invitation to your session.

  4. Share the link with your students via myCourses, an email, or other means.

You can also invite students to participant at the time of your session:

  1. Log into Vevox and select the session you would like to share.

  2. On the right side of the screen you can begin your session by selecting Present fullscreen to open your presentation in the current window, or click on theimage-20250224-201301.png(open) button to open your presentation in a new browser tab. When your presentation begins, the QR code and instructions will appear on the first slide.

Share a specific survey or Q&A

You can create links directly to specific surveys or Q&As.

To link to a specific survey:

  1. Log into Vevox. Click on the Log in with Microsoft button and enter your McGill credentials.

  2. Select the session containing the survey you would like to share. 

  3. Click on the (three-dot) button next to the survey and select Copy direct app link to copy the survey’s URL to your clipboard.

  4. Paste the URL into the message, email, document, or page you would like to link from.

To link to a specific Q&A:

  1. Log into Vevox. Click on the Log in with Microsoft button and enter your McGill credentials.

  2. Select the session containing the survey you would like to share. 

  3. Click Copy app link from the menu on the left side of the window.

  4. Paste the URL into the message, email, document, or page you would like to link from.

  5. Append “/messages” to the end of the link.

You should have a link that looks like image-20250319-125705.png, where the numbers reflect your unique, 9-digit session ID.
