Vevox is the Polling @ McGill tool. Find answers to frequently asked questions regarding Vevox. Click on each question below to expand the answer.

In this article:

How do I access Vevox?

You can access Vevox by going to its login page, clicking Sign in with Microsoft and entering your McGill credentials.

Can my students use Vevox for their own presentations?

At this time, students are able able to join and participate in Vevox sessions, but are not able to create and run their own sessions.

Can I sync Vevox with my gradebook in myCourses?

Yes you can. If you link a Vevox session as an activity in myCourses and the students access the activity via myCourses, the results of the activity will sync with the grade book.

When linking your Vevox activity, please ensure that the Participant identification setting is set to Identified. Anonymous activities are truly anonymous and the results cannot be passed back to the gradebook.

What kinds of questions can I ask with Vevox?

Vevox allows you to ask all the question types that Slido offers, as well as many additional types. New question types include numeric, before and after comparisons, demographic segmentations, pin on image questions, XY plots, and questions using LaTex notation. For a full list of question types, please refer to the Types of polls in Vevox.

Can I transfer my Slido polls into Vevox?

You may use Vevox’s Excel template to import questions into Vevox, including questions exported from Slido.

Due to differences in how Slido and Vevox structure their information, transferring from one to the other requires some manual formatting, and in most cases it is simpler and faster to recreate the polls in Vevox from scratch. If you have a particularly long and complex poll that you would like to transfer to Vevox, we recommend that you request a consultation to discuss the process and whether it would be feasible.

Where can I find guides, tips, and videos on using Vevox effectively?

The Vevox help site is a great resource for learning more about using Vevox. It includes articles, guides, and video walkthroughs designed to help you make the most of your sessions.
