Use the Links Tool in myCourses
The Links tool enables you to provide links to external websites as well as links to activities and files in your course. You must organize links into Categories.
Access the Links Tool
To allow your students to see the Links tool, you must add it to your course Navigation Bar. See Edit the Navigation Bar (NavBar) in myCourses.
Create a link category
On the Course Home page, open Links on the Navigation Bar.
Select New Category.
Enter a Name for the category.
(Optional) Enter a Description for the category.
Click Save.
Create a link
On the main Links page, select New Link.
Select an existing Category from the drop-down list at the top of the page or click [New Category] to create a new one. All links must belong to a category.
Enter a Title for the link.
Enter a website address in the URL field
OR
link to existing content within your course by clicking the Quicklink icon beside the URL field. Select an activity and click Insert.
Preview the link by clicking [Preview] beside the URL field.
Select the checkbox beside Open in New Window to open the link in a new window. This selection is necessary for some external websites to load properly.
(Optional) Enter a Description for the link.
Click Save.
Edit a link or link category
On the main Links page, click the name of the link or link category you want to edit.
Make your changes.
Click Save.
Edit multiple links
On the main Links page, select the checkbox beside each link you want to edit.
Click Edit at the top or bottom of the Category/Link list.
Make your changes.
Click Save.
Reorder links or link categories
On the main Links page, click More Actions and then Reorder.
Select a new order from the drop-down lists in the Sort Order column.
Click Save.
Delete a link or link category
Deleting a category also deletes all the links in that category.
On the main Links page, select the arrow beside the link and then select Delete.
In the pop-up window that appears, click Yes.
Deleting multiple links
On the main Links page, select the checkbox beside each link you want to delete.
Select the Delete icon at the top or bottom of the Category/Link list.
In the pop-up window that appears, click Yes.
