Respondus is a powerful Windows tool that allows instructors to create and manage quizzes and surveys offline. You can create up to 10 versions of an exam and print the assessments to paper or export them to myCourses. Fifteen question types are available. Tables, bulleted lists, font changes and enhanced formatting (bold, italics) are also available. Benefits include easy to use editors, simple import of multimedia in your questions and many others. Respondus can be used to import your existing questions from Word format or from your textbook publisher's test banks.
Please note: Respondus 4 will be decommissioned on July 31, 2026 and will no longer be available to McGill instructors. Moving forward, quizzes and exams should be created directly in myCourses. Follow these instructions to transfer any quizzes in Respondus to myCourses before July 31.
Note: Respondus LockDown Browser is unaffected by this change and will remain available.

McGill University is on land which has served and continues to serve as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. Teaching and Academic Programs acknowledges and thanks the diverse Indigenous peoples whose footsteps mark this territory on which peoples of the world now gather. This land acknowledgment is shared as a starting point to provide context for further learning and action.
