Enter grades directly in the grades tool

If you are using assignments, graded discussions, or quizzes, see Grading assignmentsGrading discussions, or Grading quizzes to grade within these tools and automatically transfer the scores and feedback to the Grades tool.

If you are not using the above three methods for grading, you can enter the scores directly in the Grades tool on the Enter Grades page. You can only enter grades for Numeric Grade Items, Text Grade Items, Pass/Fail Grade Items, and the Final Adjusted Grade. Other items and categories only provide a subtotal or sum of the scores from grade items within a category or calculation.

Do not enter grades using this method if a grade item is tied to an assignment, discussion topic, or quiz. Any scores and feedback from these tools will overwrite the scores and feedback you enter directly in the Grades tool. For example, if you entered a grade for an assignment in Grades and then used the Evaluate Submission page in Assignments to enter feedback without a score, your grades for that item will be deleted.
