Create a virtual classroom in myCourses

You can create a virtual classroom in myCourses to allow students to attend an online room directly within your course.

Virtual classroom is only supported on Firefox and Chrome. The feature is not accessible using Edge, Internet Explorer or Safari.

Create a virtual classroom

  1. Click Content on your Navigation Bar and then select the module or unit/lesson/folder where you wish to add the Virtual Classroom.

  2. Click Add existing activities (current Content Experience) or Add existing (new Content Experience).

  3. Select Create virtual classroom.

  4. In the pop-up that appears, click Schedule meeting.

  5. Enter the name of the meeting, date and duration, and click Save. This will bring you back to the scheduling page.

At this point the new meeting has not yet been added to your course content and is not available to students.

  6. Click on the meeting you have just created. The virtual classroom link is now added to your course content and is visible to students.

While this resource is accessible worldwide, McGill University is on land which has served and continues to serve as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. Teaching and Learning Services acknowledges and thanks the diverse Indigenous peoples whose footsteps mark this territory on which peoples of the world now gather. This land acknowledgment is shared as a starting point to provide context for further learning and action.
