Crosslist a course in myCourses
Crosslisting is used to merge two or more course offerings (e.g., sections) into a single myCourses page. This is typically done when the same course materials and activities are applicable to multiple course offerings.
You can request a crosslisting with the myCourses crosslist form. You must indicate the myCourses page that will be the primary source of class content and then list the courses that will be merged with the primary course. A member of IT Services will respond to your request as soon as possible.
These courses must exist in myCourses before they can be crosslisted. See the Create a course or section in myCourses article for more information.
Export your course
When multiple course offerings are crosslisted, a new course page is created and earlier pages are deleted. As a result, any content that was previously uploaded will no longer be accessible.
We recommend that you export a copy of your course before you submit the myCourses crosslist form. This process will generate a .zip file that can be saved on your computer and uploaded to another myCourses page.
An exported course does not include student data, such as grades, discussion posts, class progress, and quiz or assignment submissions.
Go to the course that you want to backup and select Course admin on the Navigation Bar.
Select Import/Export/Copy Components from under the Site resources heading.
Select the radio button beside Export as Brightspace package and then click Start.
On the Select components to export page, choose which components you want to export:
Click the checkboxes beside specific components if you want to export only part of your course.
If you want to export all items with a component, select Export all items.
If you want to export only certain items from a component, choose Select individual items to export.
Click Select all components to export all available course content.
Click Continue.
(Optional) If you chose Select individual items to export for any component, you will have to specify the items that will be exported and then click Continue.
On the Confirm components to export page, ensure that all desired components and items are listed.
(Required) Select the Include course files in the export package option.
Click Export and then Done.
The export process will now begin and you will receive a myCourses notification when your export package (.zip file) is ready for download. If you don't see the notification after several minutes, try refreshing your page or navigating elsewhere in myCourses.
Click Export finished. You will be taken to the Export summary page, where you can click the link to download the export package.
Import your course
After multiple course offerings have been crosslisted, you will have access to a single myCourses page. Follow these steps to upload your course backup and restore previous content:
Go to your new myCourses page and select Course sdmin on the Navigation Bar.
Select Import/Export/Copy Components from under the Site resources heading.
Select the radio buttons beside Import components and from a course package and then click Start.
Click Upload and select the export package (.zip file) that was generated when you exported course components.
Click Import all components.
A progress screen will appear and your import will move through the stages of uploading, converting, and importing. Depending on the size of your export package, this process may take several minutes to complete.
Once the import is finished:
Click View content to see imported items in your Content tool and elsewhere throughout your course.
Click Import another package to upload another export package.
Click Review and manage dates to view dates in your course. You will have to change the dates associated with assignments, quizzes, and other activities if they were imported from a previous year or class.
